How to Measure Ring Sizes

21st July 2017

Buying a ring is much harder than other kinds of jewellery.

Unlike necklaces and earrings, there are a lot of different sizes to choose from and anything but the right fit simply won’t do.

What Ring Size Am I?

Each country has its own system of measuring ring sizes.

UK ring size measurements will be different to those in the US, so to make it easier, we’ve gathered them all up into the following table;

How to measure your ring size

The quickest way to measure your own ring size is to use our downloadable ring measurement guide

  • Download our Ring Size Guide below
  • Print it out
  • Cut out the measurement guide
  • Wrap it around your finger and it will tell you which size you are

If you are getting a ring for your ring finger, bear in mind that each hand can be slightly different, so always measure the ring finger size of the hand you want the ring for.

What if the ring is a gift?

If you need to find out the size of a loved one’s finger without them knowing, there are a few sneaky tricks you can try:

Enlist a friend’s help

See if a friend can offer to ‘share’ their jewellery with your intended recipient, or willing to go on a shopping trip.

They can encourage your loved one to try on a ring and then note which size fits.

Borrow an existing ring

If the person already wears a ring on the right finger, or a similar one, you can borrow it to measure.

Either take it to a jeweller for a measurement or measure it yourself by placing it on a piece of paper and drawing the inside circle with a pen.

You can then take this to a jeweller for a measurement.

Choosing a ring

Once you have the ring size, you can start looking for the perfect ring. We recommend you check out our guide to picking the perfect engagement ring.

This will show you all the different metals, cuts and styles you can choose from.
